KUWAIT: Three people were killed and five others were injured in a horrific accident reported on Jahra Road Tuesday night. The accident reportedly happened near the Jahra Governorate's building, where a dump truck crashed into two vehicles, overturned and landed on top of one of them. Firefighters from three fire stations rushed to the scene as soon as the accident was reported, and they immediately worked on freeing the victims from the wrecked vehicle.

Two men and one girl were pronounced dead on the scene, and their bodies were lifted to the coroner, while five persons were rushed to hospital, some of whom in critical condition, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said in a statement to the press. Police then helped restore traffic which was paralyzed completely by the accident. An investigation was opened into the accident.



Assault charges
A police officer and a citizen assaulted each other inside the Interior Ministry's headquarters in Subhan after they argued at the ministry's gate, Al-Rai reported yesterday quoting security sources. Case papers indicate that the checkpoint at the building's gate reported controlling a Kuwaiti civilian who assaulted a police major, and referred them both to a police station for further investigations. A case was filed pending further investigations. However, the police officer also filed a case, accusing the citizen of assaulting and insulting a security agent.

Influencer released
The court of misdemeanor Tuesday suspended a two-week jail verdict issued against social media influencer Abdullah Al-Jasser (aka Abboudka), Al-Rai reported. The court set a hearing to be held on Sept 15 to discuss accusations against him of mobile phone misuse.

KD 60,000 claims
Hawally patrols stopped a Kuwaiti man wanted over KD 60,000 in claims in various cases, security sources told Al-Rai. Case papers indicate that on suspecting the man driving along Taawon Street, they stopped him, and found he is wanted over several cases.

Brewery stormed
Ahmadi security forces raided a local liquor brewery in Mahboula, where dozens of liquor barrels and equipment were found, Al-Rai reported, quoting security sources. Case papers indicate that a police patrol suspected someone holding a bag, and on stopping him, policemen found the bag contained homemade liquor bottles. The suspect confessed that he runs a liquor distillery in Mahboula and led policemen to it, where the second suspect, full liquor barrels and the tools used were found.
