How to Train Your Dragon 3

It will take a little longer for "How to Train Your Dragon 3" to fly into theaters. The sequel in the popular animated franchise hits theaters on March 1, 2019, nearly a year after it was originally slated for release, DreamWorks Animation said Monday. That gives it a one-week jump on "Captain Marvel," a comic-book adventure featuring Brie Larson. "How to Train Your Dragon 3" was originally supposed to open on May 18, 2018. That would have put it a week before a Han Solo, "Star Wars" spinoff film.

Director Dean DeBlois, who oversaw the previous two "Dragon" films, will return for the sequel. The moves follow Comcast's $3.8 billion purchase of DreamWorks Animation. That sale will put the animation studio under the umbrella of Universal, the same company that oversees "Despicable Me"-maker Illumination Studios. Last month, DreamWorks Animation announced it had cancelled "Croods 2," a follow-up to its 2013 comedy hit that was slated to hit theaters in 2017.-Reuters
