KUWAIT: Kuwait’s National Ice Hockey Team returned home on Tuesday night after winning the Bahrain Open Tournament Cup. Kuwait defeated Qatar 3-2 in the final match during the five-day tournament.

The president of the Winter Games Club Fuhaid Al-Ajmi said the victory is a good achievement. Al-Ajmi who headed Kuwait’s delegation to the tournament, lauded the players, performance in all matches. He said the club is keen on having its players participate in such activities thus enhancing their technical level. “The team held a short training camp in Bahrain to prepare for the tournament, and this played an important role in winning the cup,” Al-Ajmi said as he appreciated the support of Sports Public Authority for the club.

Meanwhile, a team member Abdelrazaq Al-Dae said his teammates are happy with the tournament in which Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait participated. He thanked club officials for their unlimited support. Al-Dae said players were able to win the final match after coming back from two goals down to win by the score of 3-2. Kuwait’s team began the tournament by defeating Qatar 10-1, then Bahrain 5-3, Oman 2-1, then won the final match against Qatar. The team was received by representative of Public Authority for Sports Bashar Al-Kandary.
