KUWAIT: Hashish found with the Arab man.

KUWAIT: Customs inspectors at Terminal 1 (T1) of Kuwait International Airport arrested two people - an Arab man and an African woman - with possession of hashish and qat that were found hidden in their luggage yesterday. This comes following six similar smuggling cases the customs department has foiled recently. The Arab man arrived from his home country with possession of around 360 grams of hashish, while the African woman arrived from a third-party country with possession of four kilograms of qat, said sources familiar with the case. Both were arrested and referred to relevant authorities, the sources added.



Fire drills
In other news, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) yesterday conducted a drill at Chrystal Tower in Sharq, in which firemen form Sharq, Al-Hilali, the capital fire stations took part. The drill's scenario involved dealing with a fire on the 50th floor with the presence of an injury on the 22nd floor, evacuating the entire building, rescuing the injured and tackling the blaze that had supposedly started in a central air conditioning unit.

Meanwhile, KFSD held a meeting yesterday to discuss preparations for the 6th Shamel (comprehensive) drill, it said, noting that this year's drill would focus on dealing with earthquakes and natural disasters. The meeting was headed by KFSD deputy director for firefighting affairs Maj Gen Jamal Al-Blaihes, who expressed utmost trust in various government bodies taking part in the drill. The head of the Shamel drill team and Farwaniya fire chief, Col Moath Al-Hammadi, and his deputy, Col Ahmad Al-Habdan, explained the drill's phases and scenarios to various participants.
