KUWAIT: A US citizen was recently arrested with the possession of KD 300,000 worth of methamphetamine (meth), which were hidden in a parcel he imported by airmail, said security sources. The suspect had been practicing his illegal trade and delivering the drugs to his clients for a while, the sources noted. Case papers indicate that narcotics' police were tipped off with information concerning the suspect's activity. After placing him under close surveillance for weeks, during which he received the parcel and stored at his house, detectives raided the place and found 20 kilograms of meth, as well as eight large and 150 small bags full of the same drug. A case was filed and the suspect was referred to relevant authorities.

Search for thieves

A citizen reported that after withdrawing KD 5,000 from a bank's branch, he visited a diwaniya in Ali Sabah Al-Salem and stayed there for a while. After he came out, he found that unknown persons had broken his vehicle open and stolen the money, said security sources. Separately, a female citizen reported that KD 1,700 in cash were stolen from her vehicle when she left it outside a private hospital in Hawalli.

Landmine found

A citizen reported finding a landmine at Al-Salmi desert, said security sources, noting that a special bomb squad headed to the scene to find out that soil erosion had uncovered the mine. They dealt with it accordingly.

Accident

A young man narrowly escaped death when he lost control over his vehicle when he became drowsy while driving. The vehicle fell into a ditch along Subbiya highway, but luckily for the man, he escaped with minor injuries.

Salesman mugged

An Asian cosmetic salesman reported that four unidentified robbers dressed in sportswear stormed his store in Regea, assaulted him and stole KD 2,000 worth of makeup an perfumes.

Forgery

A citizen was recently arrested for attempting to stamp his wife and son's passports on entry through Al-Salmi land border exit while they were not actually accompanying him, said security sources. Case papers indicate that on arrival from Saudi Arabia, the man claimed that his wife could not step down from the vehicle. When asked to roll down the heavily tinted windows, neither his wife nor son were found to be inside the vehicle. Further investigations are ongoing. Al-Rai, Al-Anbaa
