local4KUWAIT: The United States Embassy in collaboration with the Ministry of Information celebrated Kuwait's national holidays with a musical performance yesterday at Al-Shaheed Park. The 90-minute musical performance organized by the US 1st Armored Division rock band Shockwave (drums, guitars, vocalists) is part of the ongoing US Embassy's program to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Kuwait's liberation.

Information Ministry Undersecretary Tareq Eid Al-Mizrem said that the celebration marks the 55th National Day and the 25th Liberation Day. "As usual, we are celebrating our friendship with the US embassy and the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Kuwait at Al-Shaheed Park, the park that honors Kuwaiti martyrs who died during the Iraqi aggression of 1990," he said. Mizrem added the audience will enjoy the celebration with the Kuwaiti musical show 'Sameri' and the American band.

Joey Hood, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Kuwait, pointed out that the US embassy is sharing Kuwait's celebration and their joy on the 25th anniversary of the liberation. "We are taking advantage of the beautiful weather and our band to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the liberation. Music is a universal language and that is why we decided to share with Kuwait our fantastic music," he added.

The US Embassy will hold a reception on Jan 24 onboard a US carrier at Shuwaikh Port, and on Jan 28, a folkloric festival will be held. On Feb 26, another celebration will take place at Al-Shaheed Park.
