Summer is here! With that being said, its time to start thinking of how you will keep your skin, hair, and nails looking the best during the hot weather. Trips to the pool or beach and spending a lot of time in the sun can do a lot of damage, so its important to take of yourself. I love doing at home treatments, they're so easy to do and also a much cheaper alternative!

Let's start with something we all want during summer.....glowing skin! Exfoliating is essential to getting beautiful, glowing skin because it removes dead skin cells and will allow your skin to absorb moisture easier. Grapefruit is one of my favorite ingredients to add to DIY recipes because its so powerful and has an amazing effect on your skin due to the high antioxidants which fight wrinkles, discoloration, and dullness. It can work to exfoliate, detox, and brighten. All you will need for this is one grapefruit and some sugar. You can also add in any vitamin oil or essential oil if you like. Squeeze the grapefruit juice and add it to the sugar to create your scrub. Focus on the dry, rough areas like your knees and elbows. You can also use this scrub on your face, but don't be too harsh if you have sensitive skin. The acid in the grapefruit will leave your skin extra smooth and baby soft.

One of my favorite things about summer is the combination of blonde hair and a golden tan. However, blonde hair is sometimes hard to manage when you're spending a lot of time at the pool or beach. The chlorine and other chemicals can really damage your hair color and leave your hair weak and dry. I've found this swimming pool hair remedy that works wonders after you've had a long day at the pool. It will keep your blonde hair from turning green or orange. You will need baking soda, lemon juice, and baby shampoo for this recipe.  Mix the ingredients together and shampoo your hair as usual. Cover your hair with a shower cap or bag and leave this treatment in for at least half an hour then rinse away and shampoo as you normally would.

Another favorite thing about summer is experimenting with bright, fun colors on my nails. Nothing says summer more than a beautiful tan and a pop of color on your nails to go with it. The downside is that a lot of times, some nail colors can leave your nails stained and yellow.  The great thing is you can remove those stains with this DIY recipe.  Mix together baking soda, olive oil, and lemon juice then dip a toothbrush into the mixture and brush and massage your nails to thoroughly remove the stains. Not only will this remove the stains, the olive oil will help to moisturize cuticles, which will make your nails healthier and stronger.
