IRBIL: The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Iraq praised yesterday the Kuwaiti humanitarian initiative aiding Iraq and Kurdistan region against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

In a statement to the press, the Head of WHO mission in Iraq Dr Adham Ismael expressed his gratitude to Kuwait and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for the speedy response and providing necessary support to health institutions to cure the people infected with the virus.

He added that Kuwait provided medical equipment, preventive materials and laboratory materials in addition to ambulances and awareness campaigns, appreciating Kuwait's courageous stance towards the Iraqi people and the World Health Organization. The Kuwaiti contribution to WHO helped in providing support to some 800,000 Suleimaniya governorate. - KUNA
