KUWAIT: The misdemeanors court sentenced the owner of a social media account to one year in jail followed by deportation, after offering to have sex with other Twitter users in exchange for KD 150 per hour. Vice detective Lt Col Haitham Essa said messages were monitored during which a Twitter user who operated an account called "Lujain" offered to have sex with others and stated the amount of money for that.

The suspect denied the charges, and said a person kept bothering her through social media sites, so she attempted to lure him so she could report him. She said she sent voice messages to him to meet at her house and then call the police. She said the voice is hers and detectives' investigations are correct. In another case, the misdemeanors court sentenced a well-known tweeter to one month in jail and sent the case to the civil court after convicting him for insulting the chairman of a cooperative society. The chairman complained against a tweeter who insulted him on Twitter and Instagram, accusing him of embezzlement. The court said the suspect's claims were not supported by any documents.

Policemen insulted

A drunk man in Sabah Al-Salem insulted policemen who stopped him, and had a bottle and was drinking from it. Policemen arrested the man and took him to the police station where he was charged with public drunkenness and insulting a public employee while on duty.

Ex-husband charged

A citizen accused her ex-husband of kidnapping their children and threatening to harm her if she informed police about him, and lodged a complaint against him at Ali Sabah Al-Salem police station. Detectives are looking for the man for further action.

Blackmail

A citizen accused a man she knows of threatening and blackmailing her because of an old relationship, and lodged a complaint against him at Qairawan police station. The woman, according to a security source, told police her sister had a relationship with a man, then she dumped him, which made him angry and he started to blackmail her financially, and did not stop despite what he received during the past months. Investigations are underway.

Bootlegger caught

Ahmadi security police arrested an Indian man with possession of 200 bottles of homebrewed liquor he was selling in Fintas. A police patrol spotted the Indian roaming the streets late at night, and when he was stopped, he seemed nervous. When searched, the liquor was found in the trunk of his car.
