KUWAIT: Zain Group, a leading mobile technology innovator in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa, has unveiled an awareness campaign across all of its social media channels to support key aspects of the United Nations' outlook for 2030, and Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The launch of the new campaign mirrors the UN General Assembly Week that is currently taking place in New York.

The campaign by Zain, tagged "#Bethevoiceofchange" across the all the company's social media platforms including its Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ platforms, demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to supporting an ethical and positive approach to conducting its operations and respecting all people. Today, Zain Group and its eight local operations now boast more than 14 million fans and followers across all social media platforms.

Zain Group will collaborate with a wide range of companies based in the Middle East and Africa to develop social networks to tackle issues of the eradication of poverty; propel forward the fight against injustice and inequality; and deal directly with the issue of climate change. These are amongst the list of 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development that were adopted by 193 world leaders at the UN in September 2015.

The upliftment of socio-economic standards in the markets in which Zain Group operates has always been a key strategic priority for the company, with the company utilizing numerous corporate sustainability initiatives to positively impact communities. The Global Goals feed right into Zain Group's own sustainability values and outlook given its pledge in 2012 to reduce emissions from its operations by 2020, as well as its campaigns and engagements to protect and improve the quality of lives in communities in which it operates.

The success of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development is primarily driven by institutional support from governments and corporations, with Zain Group being ideally placed to create active awareness of the UN's worthy objectives. With this renewed commitment, Zain together with its corporate partners will contribute directly to improving the lives of communities across the region. Last year, Zain Group supported a combined effort with 26 mobile operator groups to reach seven billion people in seven days with text messages of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The text message campaign saw 125 individual operational mobile companies in over 100 countries around the world raise awareness of the Global Goals campaign.
