KUWAIT: Iftar meals offered to Muslims upon breaking their fasting - organized by Zakat House - is one of the leading humanitarian and charity projects offered by this institution as it provides 149 meals inside Kuwait and abroad during Ramadan this year.

The free meals are offered in cooperation with specialized food companies, 47 charity bodies abroad, in coordination with various official states’ institutions.

It is done this year at 75 locations including mosques, hospitals and houses for the elderly, the ill and people with special needs, including various governorates in Kuwait.

Director General of Zakat House Dr Ibrahim Al-Saleh told KUNA that they offer Iftar feasts for orphans, students in need and poor Muslims in 30 Islamic and Arab nations, at the cost of KD 103,500.

This project commenced back in 1988, with financial resources secured from donations; under supervision of Zakat House, he said. Zakat House offer Iftar feasts in 28 Islamic and Arab nations, in cooperation with 56 charities, to orphans, students and poor people, he added.
